Regaining control of the water network

Asset cost, water losses and price for users : the condition of the water network is at the heart of utilities concern
Worn out pipes also means more leaks and breakages to fix on a day to day basis

Worn out pipes also means more leaks and breakages to fix on a day to day basis

For water utilities, the consequence is ever-increasing maintenance costs and shrinking budgets for network renewal.

For local authorities, this means more work, more service interruptions and more dissatisfied users.
5.4 trillion U$

5.4 trillion U$

This is the replacement value of France's drinking water network assets. A minimum of 1.2% should be renewed each year. However, the current renewal rate is between 0.6% and 0.8% per year.
As a result, the network is aging, and leaks and breakages are multiplying.

Increasing the price of water to alleviate this problem is no longer an acceptable solution, either from the user's point of view, or from that of the community. Water services must now focus on performance.
Each year, over 120 billion m3 of water are lost in water supply networks

Each year, over 120 billion m3 of water are lost in water supply networks

A large part of this loss is related to pipe disrepair. High volumes of Non Revenue Water not only means water that is not billed to users but also a serious hit to the utility’s carbon footprint and energy bill. 270 billions KwH, this is the estimated carbon footprint of the clean water lost in the dstribution system
